SSTs above 26.5 °C (80 °F) are generally favorable for the formation and sustaining of tropical cyclones. Generally the higher the SST, the stronger the storm. However, there are many factors affecting the strength of such storms.


TROPICAL CYCLONE = s referred to by names such as hurricane, typhoon, tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, and simply cyclone.
