in hot arid climates, the cofficient of thermal transmittance should be about 1.1 Kcal/hm2C for an outer wall to have an appropriate themral resistance.

Thickness of walls of different material that give coefficients of thermal trasmittance of approximately 1.1Kcal/hm2C

sand lime brick 0.51m = 1.25 Kcal/hm2C

concrete 1.00m = 1.2 Kcal/hm2C

brick wall 0.38m =1.03 Kcal/hm2C
with holes

double wall
brick with holes 2x0.12m =1.12 Kcal/hm2C
8cm Cavity
